Kyung Hee realizes academic excellence based on diversity and creativity and embodies
the ‘global dignity’ of a university as a venue for public practice for better people and a better world.
The School of Management at Kyung Hee University called Orbis Hall its new home in November 1, 2008.
Ever since the School separated from the College of Political Science & Economics, Kyung Hee University has been giving full material and emotional support for improving the educational environment of the School. Now, Orbis Hall is the living example of such support.
The construction of the building began in 2005 with an investment of 38.7 billion Korean Won, and it took 3 years for completion. Orbis Hall, with 7 stories above and 3 stories below ground in 23,074m2 total, is a large-scale building that has 55 offices, 14 lecture rooms, and 1 auditorium.
What kind of amenities does Orbis Hall offer to its students? Club rooms supporting student communities are located on the 1st basement level, and female student lounge, the Internet cafe, and health center are conveniently situated throughout the building. On the 2nd floor, Moon Joo-Hyun Room (#213) donated by Accounting major class of ’83 as well as CEO of MDM Inc. Moon Joo-Hyun is located. On the 4th floor, Professor Lee Sung-Ho Room (#422) dedicated to the late Professor is located. On the 5th floor is Chung Hyun Jae, a special area designated for students preparing for KICPA. Thanks to this consideration the School of Management turned out 46 successful candidates to KICPA this year, making the School 7th in the national rank.
Then, how was this new building named Orbis Hall? The name comes from Latin that means ‘circle’, ‘Earth’, and ‘World’. Orbis symbolizes fellowship of Kyung Hee family members in a circle in alignment with one of the School Spirits ‘Constructive Cooperation’. In addition, it symbolizes Kyung Hee students advancing abroad as one based on the other School Spirits of ‘Creative Endeavor’ and ‘Enterprising Spirit’. The future that lies before the School of Management is bright. There are dedicated and devoted professors working hard for the better tomorrow, and there are students who love and cherish the School of Management and Kyung Hee University. Orbis Hall glows with their passion every second of the day.
