Vision

Evolve or collapse! That’s the challenge facing human society today. The crises spanning every aspect of our lives—including politics, economy, society, culture, environment, and climate change—amount to an existential threat for humanity and a poly-crisis for our civilization on a scale never encountered before. But this crisis also brings an opportunity for a transformative life. By putting our heads together on the imminent threats to modern society and preparing for the future, we can inspire the practical wisdom needed for a better life and a better world.

“Peace is more precious than triumph.”
Kyung Hee University System, which has pursued a peaceful world through academic research, is launching a program entitled ‘Advanced Studies for Holistic Engagement’ to prepare students for a creative journey into the society of the future. This program will explore new paths for peace and prosperity for humanity, the world, and our global existence, by undertaking the historic tasks of planning crucial solutions and putting them into practice. This program seeks to achieve the following educational objectives:

- Learn a holistic epistemology that transcends the dichotomies of micro/macro, humanity/world, and life/universe, in a departure from the present system of knowledge characterized by methodological boundaries, reductionism, and academic silos.
- Contemplate existential issues that are rooted in our contemporary society and explore methods of analysis, forecasting, system design, and project management that can enable a sustainable future for humanity.
- Reinterpret the nature of the global crisis in the context of multilayered worlds and envision a cooperative order and new truths in the era of transition.
- Explore the transformative leadership required by a new kind of politics, economy, society, culture, environment, climate, and our multifaceted worlds.
- Expand practical capabilities as a future planner through research and fieldwork.

Along with the objectives listed above, Advanced Studies for Holistic Engagement aims to provide a transformative platform for the kind of education, research, and praxis that will open new horizons for human civilization and world history.
