Scholarships & Financial Aid

1.   Merit Scholarships

Merit scholarships are offered to GSP students on the basis of their previous academic performance. The merit scholarship is the major scholarship that students can receive. GSP students who satisfy the requirements listed below may qualify for a merit scholarship:

If students would like to get a scholarship from GSP, the students have to submit the scholarship application form to the GSP administration office.

1)  Scholarship is paid only to those applying for scholarships

- If students would like to get a scholarship, the students must submit an application at the end of

each semester. Beneficiaries are selected by the scholarship committee.

2) Conditions for scholarships

- Scholarship beneficiaries have to work for 6 hours per week during the semester as a RA

(Research Assistant) regardless of the amount of scholarship.

- Submit a work diary at the end of each month.

3) Scholarship qualifications

- Master’s students: Earned at least 9 credits and scored 3.5 or higher G.P.A.  at the previous semester*

5) Scholarship amount : 0% to 100% of tuition, based on the grade

2.   Magnolia Financial Aid

The Magnolia Scholarship is a need-based scholarship for students who have recently experienced financial hardship. GSP launched the Magnolia Scholarship program beginning in the Spring Semester of 2015. The fund for this scholarship is very limited, so only a few GSP students may be able to receive a scholarship. All students who apply for this scholarship are required to submit financial records sufficient to prove their financial hardship. The following conditions are necessary (but may not be the sole criteria) for the magnolia scholarship:

1)   Requirements

a)  Korean students whose family income is equal to or below the 50 percentile of income needed

together with the submission of a reasonable explanation for why they need the Magnolia Scholarship. (Recipients of the National Basic Livelihood, the next lowest income bracket and/or disabled persons will be given the highest priority.)

b)  International students can also apply for the Magnolia Scholarship. However, most international students who have been admitted to GSP have already submitted the required financial documents such as a bank deposit certificate proving their financial ability to study in Korea during the process  of visa issuance. Thus, international students who want to apply for the Magnolia Scholarship must provide additional documents and a hardship letter that explains how they have come to face unexpected financial hardship after entering GSP.

2)   Application Process

Student should apply for the Magnolia Scholarship at least four months or more before the new semester begins. (November for the Spring Semester of the next year, or May for the Fall Semester).

Students first download and fill out the application from the GSP website.

Students then consult their respective department head and obtain their signature on the application.

Students then submit their application to the GSP office along with a written essay explaining why the Magnolia Scholarship is needed.

3.   Financial Aid for Training or Workshops

The GSP holds training programs in summer or winter,  participants may receive a financial aid based on department budget.
