Dual Degree

Dual Degree Program

A few host universities require a thesis as a requirement for their M.A. degree. A thesis is a daunting task for students who have no prior experience. Particularly, students who attempt to pursue two different majors can face extreme difficulty in earning both degrees within just two years. For example, IDC or IT students who have not taken enough business courses are not good candidates for a dual degree in business. Because of these concerns, students who plan to pursue two different dual degrees are strongly encouraged to take at least three or four required or elective courses in their major at the host university. And students should apply a dual degree program in their second semester.

1) Applicants for the dual degree program must meet the following requirements:
- Completion of at least two semesters with at least 24 credits earned.
- A GPA of at least 3.5 in the semester during which the application for the program is submitted.
- Proficiency in the language required by the foreign university.
- Permission to travel outside Korea (related to visa issuance and duration of sojourn).

2) The status of dual degree students who fail to receive both degrees within the period specified will be changed to that of an exchange student. This change in status requires students to study at GSP for three semesters in order to earn their M.A. degree. Thus, failure to attain a dual degree entails a high risk and can incur substantial additional cost.

3) Timeline for the submission of documents and selection: Detailed information will be posted on the GSP homepage each semester.
